SLC Weekend Guide: Edition 5

This month in Salt Lake is a foodie frenzy, giving you a great excuse to try new restaurants. Dineoround SLC runs until September 27, and includes 50 of the most delicious restaurants in the valley. You can choose from $5 or $10 two-item lunches, as well as $15 or $30 three-course dinners. Dineoround is also so appropriately paired with the Farm to Glass cocktail contest, in which some of Salt Lake’s most creative bartenders are competing for best seasonal cocktail. What does this have to do with this week’s weekend guide? Well…it almost all food…

Friday – Sept 18

10am – 10pm / Utah State Fair /155 N 1000 W – I haven’t gotten the opportunity to attend Utah State Fair in the past but who doesn’t love fried food and carnival rides. This is the last weekend it is open and sounds like the perfect way to start your fall activities.

Caffe Niche’s Farm to Glass Cocktail

Saturday – Sept 19

10am – 6pm / 9th and 9th Street Festival / 900 S. 900 E. – The best thing about this festival is that it is right at my front door. This neighborhood fest has live music, local foods and great local vendors. Perfect for a causal Saturday afternoon.

12pm – 7pm / Rock ‘N’ Ribs Festival / Gallivan Center -Entrance is free to Salt Lake’s annual Rock ‘N’ Ribs festival. Come try some of Utah’s greatest BBQ restaurants as they will be offering $3 sample plates among their other flame-grilled favorites, so you can try a little of everything!

12pm – 5pm / Sugar House Fall Crawl / Monument Plaza Sugar House – Grab some friends and drink your way through 10 of Sugar House’s pubs. If you get your “passport” stamped for all 10 you have a chance to win 2 tickets to Denver’s Great American Beer Festival.

6pm – 9pm / Eat Local Week Finale / Harmons City Creek – Celebrate the end of Eat Local week at Harmons roof top party. Sample a bunch of unique local products and grab a drink in the beer and wine garden.

Sunday – Sept 20

12pm – 10pm / Fiesta Italiana / Across from Pioneer Park – Pasta, wine, and Italian opera, need I say anymore. This two day festival is free admission and brings together some of the best food from our local Italian restaurants. Plus a pasta eating contest.

9:30am / Yoga Rocks the Park / Liberty Park – Catch the last installment of yoga rocks the park this Sunday with Jessica Winderl and DJ Nourish. Tickets are $10 but the first time is free. It’s the last class so it’s bound to be a fun time.
